Where are sponsor results shown on the Search results page?
Sponsor Results:
Sponsor Results are sites that pay for placement in search results on keywords that are relevant to their business. These listings participate in the Yahoo! Sponsored Search program and appear on Yahoo! Search results pages and other sections of Yahoo!. You'll see Sponsor Results when they're relevant to the specific search terms you used. For example, if you search for "digital cameras," you'll see Sponsor Results for web sites that provide information about or sell digital cameras. Sponsor Results are separated from other results on Yahoo! Search results pages so you can tell them apart. For more information please see:

Category Sponsors:
Category Sponsors are advertisers that pay for placement in Yahoo! Local Search results. Category Sponsors include Yahoo! Local Featured Listings which display advertiser listings as determined by business location and the categories of services or businesses returned in response to your search.
For example, if you search Yahoo! Local for "flowers" you will likely see Category Sponsors from your local area displayed from the "Florists" or "Flower Growers" category. The Category Sponsors displayed in response to your search have selected the category in which they appear. The Yahoo! Local Search results pages separate Category Sponsors from other results so you can tell them apart. To participate in this program, please see:

Category Sponsors may also include advertisers from the Yahoo! Sponsor Results and/or Yahoo! Local Sponsored Results programs. For more information please see:

Yahoo! Local Advertising Programs
Web Results and Local Results may have financial relationships with Yahoo!, but have not paid for placement. Web Results may include links to sites that participate in the Content Acquisition Program (CAP). CAP enables content providers to submit web content directly to Yahoo! for review and inclusion in the Yahoo! Search index; content providers that participate in CAP through the Search Submit program pay for these services.
Local Results may include links to sites that participate in the Local Listings program. The Yahoo! Local Listings program enables content providers to submit content directly to Yahoo! for review and inclusion in the Yahoo! Local Search index; content providers that participate in the Yahoo! Local Enhanced Listings program pay for this service.
Participation in CAP or Yahoo! Local Enhanced Listings does not guarantee placement or ranking in search results, but additional information made available through the direct data feeds or otherwise provided by the content provider may increase or decrease relevance depending on the search query.
Local Advertiser:
Local Advertiser ads appear when you search on an advertiser's exact business name, city, and state. Businesses can pay for exclusive placement in search results via the Local Advertiser ad unit, which is sold through resellers under the product name Exclusive Keyword. For example, if you search for "Nine Palms, Burbank, CA" and an advertiser has purchased that keyword as an Exclusive Keyword, you should see an ad labeled Local Advertiser that contains information for Nine Palms Restaurant located in Burbank, CA. You can distinguish Local Advertiser Results because they are separated from non-paid results on the Yahoo! Search results page.
Web Results:
Web Results are the most relevant web pages found in response to your search query. Web Results are generated from the billions of web pages discovered, crawled, reviewed, submitted, or otherwise included in the Yahoo! Search index. More than 99% of web pages in the Yahoo! Search index are included for free through Yahoo!'s web crawl process.
Within web results you may also see:
-
PDF: Result is a PDF (Portable Document Format).
-
View as HTML: When a web result links to a PDF file, we give you the option to view the information as a web page instead of downloading the file. Your search terms will be highlighted on the cached page to help you find the relevant content.
-
RSS/View as XML: Now web results include sites that support "RSS" or "Really Simple Syndication", a method used to access web content. You can use RSS with "My Yahoo!" to incorporate, gather, read, or quickly scan frequently updated headlines.
Specific search results that have an associated RSS/XML feed will return two additional links:
-
View as XML: A direct link to an XML feed for a specific RSS result. XML is a document markup language used to describe different types of information on the Web including RSS feeds.
Note:This link displays raw XML markup within the browser. You will see a page with source code that resembles HTML. It is designed to be read by software rather than by people.
-
Add to My Yahoo! [Beta]: Automatically add the specific RSS feed to an RSS Headlines module on your My Yahoo! start page.

-
URL: The web address of the result.
-
Cached: A link to a copy of the page saved by the search engine, in case the site is unavailable. Your search terms will be highlighted on the cached page to help you find the relevant content.
-
More pages from this site: Search for the same term on pages within this particular site.
