How to set up FTPS tool

NOTE: If you are using a different version of a FTP that is listed here, the process for connecting may change. If the steps below do not match what you are seeing in the FTP client, we recommend consulting the programs help for more information. Yahoo Small Business does not provide support for third party products or services.

Filezilla

  1. Click the File menu
  2. Click Site Manager
  3. Click New Site
  4. In the General tab, fill out:
    • Host: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
    • Port: Leave blank
    • Protocol: FTP - File Transfer Protocol
    • Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS
    • Logon Type: Normal
    • User: Yahoo ID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name) (or ftp user)
    • Password: yid password
  5. Click Connect

Note: The first time you connect using FTPS, you will get an "Unknown certificate" pop up. This is expected behavior. Check the box " Always trust certificate in future sessions." and you will not get this prompt again.

If Kiosk Mode is enabled, you will need to disable it before being able to connect using FTPS. To disable Kiosk Mode, go to the Edit menu, select Settings, in the "Settings" window, go to the Interface category and uncheck Do not save passwords, which is listed under "Behaviour".

Dreamweaver

NOTE: Versions older than Dreamweaver CS 5.5 do not support FTPS. If you are using an older version of Dreamweaver you will need to use another tool that supports FTPS to publish your website.

Dreamweaver CS 5.5, 6 and 6.5

  1. Click the Site menu
  2. Click New Site
  3. Click the Severs tab
  4. Click the + button to add a new server.
  5. Choose FTP over SSL/TLS (Explicit Encryption) from the Connect using: drop down, and enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
    • FTP Host: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
    • Host directory: leave blank or enter a \
    • Login: Yahoo ID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
    • Password: YID Password
  6. In the "Authenication" box, select None (Encryption Only) (If you are using Dreamweaver CS 5.5 you may not have this option).
  7. Check Use passive FTP
  8. Click Test (next to Login)
  9. If the test is successful, click OK.

SmartFTP

  1. Click the File menu
  2. Click New Connection
  3. Set Protocol to FTPS (Explicit)
  4. Host: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  5. Path: leave blank
  6. Login Type: Username & Password
  7. Login: Yahoo ID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  8. Password: YID Password
  9. Click OK

CuteFTP

  1. Click the File menu
  2. Click Site Manager
  3. Click New Site
  4. Enter a Label of your choice (optional)
  5. Host: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  6. Login: Yahoo ID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  7. Password: YID Password
  8. Security: FTP with TLS/SSL
  9. Click Connect
  10. Click Accept on the certificate

CyberDuck

  1. Click the Open Connection button
  2. Choose FTP - SSL (Explicit AUTH TLS) in the menu at the top of the window
  3. Server: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  4. Login: Yahoo ID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  5. Password: YID Password
  6. Connection Mode: Passive (PASV)
  7. Click Continue

iWeb

  1. In the sidebar, click the site you want to publish
  2. In the Site Publishing Settings window choose FTP Server from the Publish To menu.
  3. Name the site (optional)
  4. Provide a contact email address.
  5. Server Address: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  6. User name: Yahoo ID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  7. Password: YID Password
  8. Protocol: FTP with TLS/SSL
  9. Directory/ Path: Leave blank
  10. Click Test Connection
  11. Click Publish

Fetch

When Fetch is first launched, you will automatically be prompted to enter your FTP credentials.

  1. Host: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  2. Username: YahooID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  3. Connect using: FTP with TLS/SSL
  4. Leave "Enable encryption" checked.
  5. Password: Yahoo ID password
  6. Leave "Add to keychain" unchecked.
  7. Click Connect
  8. You'll receive a message "Fetch can not verify the identity of server "ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)." Click Continue.

Transmit

When Transmit is launched, you will be provided with fields to enter your FTP credentials.

  1. Server: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  2. Username: YahooID@yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  3. Password: Yahoo ID password
  4. Initial Path: Leave Blank
  5. Port: Leave at 21, and select FTP with TLS/SSL
  6. Click Connect

NOTE: If you do not have a Yahoo ID, and were set up with an FTP username your username will be, FTPusername@yourdomain.com, be sure to replace yourdomain.com with your website address.
