Sign up for a PayPal Business account

In order to use the PayPal Express Checkout integration, you will need to sign up for a PayPal Business account. Features available with a PayPal Business account include the ability to add a business name that will be included on your customers' credit card statements, and more flexibility when assigning multiple user roles with Multi-User Access.

Merchants not yet open for business

To sign up for a PayPal Business account:

  1. From the Open for Business Control Panel, click the "Payment Methods" link.
  2. Click "Set Up My First Payment Method."
  3. Select the No option and click "Next."
  4. Select the option for PayPal Express Checkout and click "Next." (See Note if you do not see this option)
  5. Read the information and click "Signup for PayPal Express Checkout."
  6. Complete the steps in the PayPal signup and setup process:
    • select an account type
    • enter your business and personal information
    • select account information and provide security information
    • confirm your email address with PayPal
    • grant API access to Yahoo

Your account will remain as "pending" in the Payment Center until you have completed all necessary steps at PayPal. Once complete, your account will appear as PayPal Express Checkout in the Payment Center.

Merchants already open for business

To sign up for a PayPal Business account:

  1. From the Store Manager, click the "Payment Center" link appearing in the Order Settings column.
  2. Click Add New Processor.
  3. Select the option for PayPal Express Checkout and click "Next."(See Note if you do not see this option).
  4. Read the information and click "Signup for PayPal Express Checkout."
  5. Complete the steps in the PayPal signup process:
    • select an account type
    • enter your business and personal information
    • select account information and provide security information
    • confirm your email address with PayPal

Your account will remain as "pending" in the Payment Center until you have completed all necessary steps at PayPal. Once complete, your account will appear as PayPal Express Checkout in the Payment Center.

Notes:
  • Only US PayPal account holders will be able to sign up. At this time, PayPal does not support non-US account holders for this integration of PayPal Express Checkout.
  • Only merchants with a confirmed PayPal email address can use the default transaction setting of "automatic capture" to accept PayPal orders. Merchants that have not confirmed their email address with PayPal should either login and do so before publishing their order settings, or set their PayPal transaction settings to "authorize only". Failure to do so will mean buyers will not be able to use PayPal as a payment method.
  • The PayPal email address you enter serves as login credentials when Yahoo communicates with PayPal for transactions. If you delete the email address from your PayPal account, Yahoo will no longer be able to communicate with PayPal to conduct transactions on your behalf. For this reason, merchants should use an email address that they will not delete from their PayPal account.
