Resolve "bouncing" accounts

If your email address is "bouncing," Yahoo Groups messages aren't being delivered to you. These kinds of problems generally resolve themselves in a couple of days, but can sometimes require manual reactivation.

Determining why your account is "bouncing"

  1. Sign in to Yahoo Groups (use the account that's associated with the email address that's bouncing).
  2. On the left, click All My Groups.
  3. Click Email Preferences.
  4. Next to your email address, click Show History.
  5. The delivery failure reason (provided by your email provider) is listed under "Last Bounced Message."

Manually reactivating your account

  1. Sign in to Yahoo Groups (use the account that's associated with the email address that's bouncing).
  2. On the left, click All My Groups.
  3. Click Email Preferences.
  4. Next to your email address, click Show History.
  5. Click Send Reactivation Request.
    • A confirmation will be emailed to your email address. If your email address is no longer bouncing, you’ll receive it.
  6. Click the confirmation link in the email.

Note: Reactivating your account will not immediately restore email delivery. The change in your status needs to be applied to all your groups. While this usually happens within hours, it can take a day or more (if you’re in a group with more than 75 members).

What if the bouncing continues?

If email delivery continues to fail, contact your email provider and provide them with a copy of the bounce message from your Bounce History. With this info, they should be able to explain why they're bouncing messages from your group.
