All email is going to the Trash folder

If emails are being delivered directly to your Yahoo Mail account's Trash folder, we suggest reviewing your email filters and POP mail client settings to keep this from happening.


Check filters

  1. Mouse over the Settings Menu icon Small gear icon, then select Settings.
  2. Click Filters.
  3. Check any filters for the following problems:
    • Filters set to "Does not contain."
      - For example, this filter will send many emails to the Trash folder: "If the sender does not contain 'Yahoo', move the message to Trash."
    • Are any of the filters very broad?
      -
      For example, this filter will send many emails to the Trash folder: "If the subject contains "and', move the message to Trash."
    • Are any of the filters set to move all emails to Trash?
      - For example, this filter will send all emails to the Trash folder: "If the recipient contains (your Yahoo Mail address), move the message to Trash."

Check POP settings

  • Yahoo Mail moves messages that have been downloaded and deleted by a POP client, like Microsoft Outlook or Mac Mail, to the Trash folder.
  • Prevent messages from being deleted by a POP client.
