Embedded images in emails aren't showing

Why embedded images in an email may not appear, or appear as a red "X."

There are a few reasons why an image may not be displayed:

  • The image was referenced as a relative URL -- A relative URL references links on a directory or server that the sender can access, but the recipient cannot. If the sender used a relative URL, then the receiver won't be able to view the image unless they have access to the directory/server.
  • The HTML in the email may reference a file that isn't on the hosting server anymore
  • The image is in a format that can't be displayed in Yahoo Mail

If your email recipient still cannot view your image, you may want to try adding your image as an attachment as an alternative.
