Yahoo Toolbar missing in Internet Explorer

There are a few possible explanations for a missing Yahoo Toolbar in Microsoft Internet Explorer.


Yahoo Toolbar is hidden

If you've installed Yahoo Toolbar, but don't see a Yahoo logo or the toolbar, check to see if it's hidden.

  1. Click View | Toolbars.
  2. Select the checkbox for Yahoo Toolbar.
    - If it's already selected, deselect and reselect the checkbox.
    Note: If you don't see Yahoo Toolbar in the menu, you need to re-install it.

Internet Explorer restart may be required

Try closing all open web browser windows, then restart Internet Explorer. If you still don't see Yahoo Toolbar, you may need to install it.

Yahoo Toolbar was dragged somewhere else

If you see a Yahoo logo anywhere on the top of your web browser, Yahoo Toolbar has been installed, but is needs to be moved elsewhere.

  1. Click the thin vertical bar or line of dots next to the Yahoo logo.
    Note: If you don't see either of these, click View | Toolbars | Lock the toolbars to unlock your Internet Explorer toolbars.
  2. Drag the toolbar to your desired location.

Dragged off the visible area

  1. Look for chevrons (>>) in your Internet Explorer toolbars, indicating hidden controls.
  2. Click each set of chevrons, looking for Yahoo Toolbar.
  3. Click the thin vertical bar or line of dots next to the Yahoo logo.
    Note: If you don't see either of these, click View | Toolbars | Lock the toolbars to unlock your Internet Explorer toolbars.
  4. Drag the toolbar to your desired location.

Conflicting toolbars

Third-party programs sometimes install toolbars that either hide or disable Yahoo Toolbar, but you can always remove them.

  1. Click View | Toolbars in Internet Explorer.
  2. Remove the checkmarks next to any unfamiliar toolbars.
    Tip: You may also be able to remove the third-party toolbars using "Add/Remove Programs" from your system's "Control Panel."

Yahoo Toolbar has become corrupted

If you're still having problems, your Yahoo Toolbar installation might have been corrupted and may need to be uninstalled, then redownloaded.
