Back up emails to your computer

Looking to back up your Yahoo Mail email messages or attachments? We can help.


Backing up emails

  1. Sign in to Yahoo Mail.
  2. Open the email message you want to save.
  3. Highlight and copy the email content you want.
  4. Open a word processing program (Wordpad, Microsoft Word, or Oracle Open Office Writer) and create a new file.
  5. Paste the content into the file you've created.
  6. Save the file.
  • Backing up email and attachments is even easier when you download email messages to your computer using an email program like Outlook.

Backing up picture and file attachments

  1. In Yahoo Mail, open the email message with the attachment(s) you want to save.
  2. Click Download attachment or Download all (if there are multiple attachments) | Save to my computer or Save to Dropbox.

Saving your email in another email account

  1. In Yahoo Mail, find the email message you want to save.
  2. Open the message.
  3. Click the forward icon right-pointing arrow
    • The original email will reappear with a blankĀ "To" field.
  4. Enter the email address of the account you want to Forward the message to.
  5. Click Send.
