Change your security questions

Keep your security questions up-to-date and strong. Here's how.

 You'll need to know your password before you can update your security questions. Not sure what it is? Use our Password Helper.

For your security, we don't have access to passwords: We can't disclose or verify your current or previous password even if you contact us for those details.

Security question and answer requirements

  • Questions must be 5 to 100 characters long and can only include letters and numbers.
  • Questions can't include the answer.
  • No two questions or answers can be identical.
  • Answers must be 4 to 32 characters long and can only include letters and numbers.

Change your security questions

  1. Using a desktop or laptop computer, sign in to your Yahoo Account Information page.
  2. Under "Sign-In and Security," click Update password - reset info.
  3. Under "Secret Questions," click Change questions and answers.
  4. Select one of the security questions, or create your own.
  5. Click Save to confirm your changes.

 Haven't been asked to create security questions or unable to edit existing ones? This means we trust your account recovery info on file and you don't have to set or renew your questions.
