View and manage Yahoo Search preferences
Yahoo Search preferences are used each time you search with Yahoo (unless you're using Advanced Search).
Access your Yahoo Search preferences
Once you've signed in to your Yahoo account, you can change your account's Search preferences from any computer or mobile device. If you're not signed in, your preferences will still be saved—but only on the specific computer or device you're using.
Depending on the type of device that you're using, the steps to access your preferences differ.
Desktop
- Sign in to Yahoo.
- Enter a search in the search box, and then click Search.
- On the search results page that displays, mouse over the Settings icon

- Click Preferences.
Android
- Go to https://search.yahoo.com/.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Sign in.
iOS
iPhone
- Go to https://search.yahoo.com/.
- Tap Settings.
iPad
- Go to https://search.yahoo.com/.
- Tap Settings.
- If you're not signed-in, tap Sign in.
Available preferences
- Languages - Change the language that Yahoo Search displays results in.
- Search History - View and manage your past searches. Learn more about managing your search history.
- SafeSearch - Filter explicit, adult-oriented content out of your search results. Learn more about using SafeSearch.
- Open search results - Choose how results open in your browser.
- Results per Page - Change the number of results per page.
- SearchScan - Choose to be alerted about potentially harmful websites. Learn more about how SearchScan alerts you.
- Private results - You can use Yahoo Search to find relevant, important info you've received email about. Learn more about private results for desktop, mobile, or tablets.
Missing a preference?
- If you’re using a mobile phone, you won't be able to see all preferences. You'll need to sign in from a desktop or laptop to see all preferences.
- Some preferences settings (shown in the list above) aren't available in all countries.
