About Head-to-Head playoffs in Fantasy Football

Playoffs take place at the end of regular season play, but before NFL playoffs start. Regular season standings determine a team's playoff seed, matchup, and schedule. The league's commish can edit other playoff settings by clicking Edit League Settings on the 'League Settings' tab.

Overall playoff seeding options

In leagues without divisions, playoff seeds are based on overall standings. League's that use divisions have the following options:

  • Division winners awarded top playoff seeds - Division winners are awarded the top seeds. Overall standings determine the rest.
  • All teams seeded according to overall standings - Regardless of division results, all playoff seeds are determined by overall standings.
  • Division winners advance, but seeded by overall standings- Division winners are guaranteed a playoff spot, but playoff seeds are determined by overall standings.

8 team playoff system and week options

The top 8 teams in the league standings at end of the regular season qualify for a 3-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion (there's no consolation bracket). Playoff week options are:

  • Weeks 14, 15, and 16
  • Weeks 15, 16 and 17

6 team playoff system, week options, and consolation teams

The top 6 teams in the league standings at end of the regular season qualify for a 3-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion. The next 4 teams (or the next 6 for 12+ team leagues) in rank play consolation rounds for 7th-10th or 7-12th place. Options for playoff weeks are:

  • Weeks 14, 15, and 16
  • Weeks 15, 16, and 17

The top 4 teams in the league standings at end of the regular season qualify for a 2-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion. The next 4 teams (or the next 2 for 6 team leagues) by rank play consolation rounds to determine 5th-8th (or 5th and 6th) place. Playoff week options are:

  • Weeks 15 and 16 (used in all Public and Pro Leagues)
  • Weeks 16 and 17
