Get a stock quote

Get a quote for a company, fund, or other security by searching its ticker symbol or name.

  1. Go to Yahoo Finance.
  2. In the "Search" box, type a ticker symbol (like VZ) or a business name (like Verizon).
  3. Press Enter.

Find a preferred stock

Symbols for preferred stocks on Yahoo Finance differ from the symbols used on other websites. If you know the company and type of preferred stock you're looking for, look it up in the "Search" box by entering the ticker symbol followed by a "-P" (dash P) followed by the suffix.

For example, for a certain Bank of America preferred stock, enter "BAC-PL" into the "Search" box where "-P" indicates a preferred stock and "L" is the suffix for the preferred stock type.
