Disable browser enhancements

Sometimes third-party browser enhancements can cause problems with how Yahoo displays in your browser. If you've tried our steps to clear your browser's cache and Yahoo still isn't loading correctly, you can turn them off to see if that resolves the issue.

Yahoo supported browsers

Note: If your browser isn't listed below, refer to your browser's support website for info on how to disable enhancements.

Firefox

Verified for version 36

  1. Click the Tools icon Three horizontal lines | select Add-ons (or Extensions).
    - The "Add-ons Manager" window appears.
  2. Click Extensions.
  3. Click Disable or Remove next to your desired extensions.
  4. Click Restart Now.

Chrome

Verified for version 40

  1. Click Customize Chrome Three horizontal lines | select Settings.
    - The "Settings" tab appears.
  2. Click Show advanced settings.
  3. Under "Privacy," click Content settings.
    - The "Content Settings" window appears.
  4. Under "Plug-ins," select Block by default.
    Note: To customize permissions for specific websites, click Manage exceptions.
  5. Click Done.

Safari

Verified for version 8

  1. Click Safari | select Preferences.
  2. Click Security.
  3. Deselect Allow Plug-Ins.
  4. Restart Safari.

Internet Explorer

Verified for version 10

  1. Click the Tools icon  | select Manage Add-ons.
  2. Select the add-on you want to disable.
  3. Click Disable.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Restart Internet Explorer.
