Autofill options for Firefox

Save time when you sign in to Yahoo by using your browser's Autofill feature. Autofill stores your Yahoo ID and password in your browser's cache so the Sign-in fields are automatically filled out for you whenever you're asked to sign in to Yahoo.

Autofill settings

Verified through version 35

Enable or disable Autofill

  1. Click the Tools icon Three horizontal lines | select Options.
  2. Click Security.
  3. Select or deselect Remember passwords for sites.
  4. Click OK.

Prevent Autofill from remembering your password

When Firefox asks you if you'd like to store your password:

  1. Click the Down arrow icon Graphic of Firefox down arrow.
  2. Select Never Remember Password from This Site or Not Now when prompted by your browser.
    • Never Remember Password from This Site - The Yahoo ID and password fields will always be blank.
    • Not Now - You'll be asked to store your Yahoo ID and password the next time you sign in.

Fix Autofill problems

Autofill preferences don't save

If you've asked Firefox to store your sign in information and it's not working, these steps will fix it.

Check that you aren't clearing your browser history:

  1. Click the Tools icon Three horizontal lines | select Options.
  2. Click Privacy.
  3. In the "Firefox will" dropdown, select Remember history.
  4. Click OK.

Double-check your Autofill settings:

  1. Click the Tools icon Three horizontal lines | select Options
  2. Click Security
  3. Under "Passwords," select Remember Passwords for Sites
  4. Click OK.

Note: If Autofill is enabled, you can click the Exceptions button to see if Yahoo is on the blocked site list.

Remove your Yahoo ID from Autofill

  1. Make sure there is no text in the field where you enter your Yahoo ID.
  2. Double-click in the text field.
    - A pull-down list of auto-fill options will appear.
  3. Move your cursor over the Yahoo ID that you want to remove so that it's highlighted.
    - Don't click the Yahoo ID.
  4. Once the Yahoo ID is highlighted, press Delete (on a Mac, press Shift + Delete).

If the above steps don't answer your questions, you can visit the Firefox help pages for more information.
