Block addresses in Yahoo Mail

Get email from the senders you want. Block messages from email addresses you don't want email from.

You can block up to 500 email addresses in Yahoo Mail. Here's how.

Block an email address from your Inbox

  1. Open or select an an email from the sender you want to block.
  2. Click More | Block.
  3. Select "Send all future emails to Spam," "Delete all existing emails," or select both.
  4. Click OK.

If you want to start getting emails from that address in your Inbox again, you'll need to find an email message from that sender in your Spam folder and identify it as Not Spam.

You can also block and unblock email addresses in your Yahoo Mail Settings.

Ban an email address using Settings

  1. Mouse over the Settings menu icon Small gear icon | select Settings.
  2. Click Banned Addresses.
  3. Enter an email address in the "Add an address" field.
  4. Click Ban.

Want to start getting email from an address you blocked? You can unblock it.

Remove a banned email address from your Banned Addresses list

  1. Mouse over the Settings menu icon Small gear icon | select Settings.
  2. Click Banned Addresses.
  3. Click an email address in the list to select it.
  4. Click Remove.

Basic Mail steps

  1. Sign in to Yahoo Mail.
  2. Click the Settings drop-down menu.
  3. Select Options.
  4. Click Go.
  5. Click Blocked Addresses.
  6. Type in the email address you want to block in the "Add an address:" field.
  7. Click the Add this email address to the Blocked List (+) button.

  Good to know: Senders on your blocked address list won't be notified they're being blocked. Their message will simply never reach your account.
