Attach, share, or insert files and emojis in Yahoo Mail

Emojis are always a good idea if you want your message to look friendly.

  1. Click Compose.
  2. Click the Emoji icon Image of the emoji icon.
  3. Select the emoji.

Attach or share files

Attach computer files

  1. Click Compose.
  2. Click the Attach Files icon Image of the Attachment icon.
  3. Select Attach files from computer.
  4. Locate and select the files to attach.
  5. Click Open.

The file attachments are added below the email message.

Attach files from recent emails

  1. Click Compose.
  2. Click the Attach Files icon Image of the Attachment icon.
  3. Select Attach files from recent emails.
  4. Locate and select the files to attach.

Share files from cloud storage

  1. Click Compose.
  2. Click the Attach Files icon Image of the Attachment icon.
  3. Select Share files from Google Drive or Share files from Dropbox.
  4. Locate and select the file you want to share.
  5. Select Ok to insert a shareable link into your email.

Problems with attachments

Experiencing difficulty when attaching a file? Here are a few common issues:

  • Special characters - remove special characters from the title and try again.
  • Unsupported web browser - make sure you're using a supported web browser.
  • Large file size - emails can't exceed 25MB, so if you need to attach a file over 25MB, use the option to share files from Google Drive or Dropbox.
  • Some file types present a security risk - we don't support a variety of file formats, such as .bat, .cmd, .exe, .hta, .iso, .jar, .lnk, .msi, .scr, and .vbs, because they are often used to distribute malware.
