Browsing for Content

We’ve gathered the most popular content and put them into categories for easy browsing. Find what you want and add it to My Yahoo!.

 

Here’s How

  1. View the tab to which you want to add content by clicking its name in the tab bar.

    Click the tab.

  2. Open the content gallery by clicking Add Content.

    Click Add Content.

  3. Scroll through the content by clicking the next and previous buttons at the bottom of the gallery.

    Click the next and previous buttons to scroll through content.

  4. When you see content that you want on your tab, click the Add button or anywhere over the content description.

    Click the content to add it.

    Tip: Added next to content tells you that the content has already been added to the current tab.

    Added lets you know that the content has already been added to the current tab.

    The content appears at the top of your tab.

  5. To view the content in a category, click the category name under Browse Content on the right.

    Click a category name.

    If subcategories exist, they display next. For example, Entertainment has subcategories that you can further browse.

    If subcategories exist, you can browse through them.

    The content for the category displays on the left.

  6. Scroll through the category content by clicking the next and previous buttons, then, when you find something you like, click the Add button or anywhere over the content description.

  7. Continue adding content as you like.

  8. When you’ve added the content you want, click the I’m Done button.

    Click the I’m Done button.

    All of the content you add appears at the top of the tab. You can move content to other locations in the tab by dragging each one by its title and dropping it in the new location. You can also move it to another tab. Moving Content shows you how.

  9. If needed, set up the content to display information based on your specifications.

    For example, to view movie times in your area, you need to specify your location.

 

What’s Next: Tips

The string of words at the top of the content gallery is a navigation tool that shows where you are in the category/subcategory hierarchy. To return to a higher level, click one of the links. For example, to return to the main Entertainment listing, click the Entertainment link.

Click a link in the navigation tool to return to a higher level.

You can also return to a higher level by clicking the back button next to the category name on the right side of the gallery.

Click the back button next to the category name.

You can move content to other places on the tab, and you can change the tab layout to accommodate your content.

Words to Know

  • Content: information in My Yahoo! that changes on a regular basis, such as news items, sporting events, and the weather.
  • Drag and drop: the ability to move an object from one place to another by placing the cursor over an object, pressing the left mouse button, dragging the selected object to another location, and releasing the mouse button.
  • Tab: an organizational unit in My Yahoo! used to orgainize content into meaningful groups. Your My Yahoo! page can have up to 9 tabs.
