Disposable addresses let you receive mail from people to whom you don't want to give your primary Yahoo! Mail Plus address. Two examples might be:
When you place an order with an online vendor, they typically require you to supply an email address that they can use to send an order confirmation. If you give them one of your disposable addresses, you still receive the confirmation message through Yahoo! Mail Plus, but the vendor doesn't have your “real” address to use for other purposes.
When you sign up for a mailing list or sign up for an online service, you can use one or your disposable addresses.
When you reply to an email sent to one of your disposable addresses, by default Yahoo! Mail Plus uses that disposable address as the From address. Your primary Yahoo! Mail Plus address is not revealed, unless you manually choose to use it in your reply.
You can also use disposable addresses when sending new messages. To do this, you must be sure that the disposable address is enabled for sending email.
Go to the AddressGuard page. (Remind me how.)
Select the disposable address that you want to use for sending messages.
The options summary for the address shows you if it can be used for sending messages.

If the disposable address you want to use doesn’t permit sending messages, you need to change this option.
With the address selected in the list, click the Edit button.

On the Edit Disposable Address page, check the Allow mail to be sent from this address option, and, if you want, type the Name that will appear in the From area of the messages you send using this address.

Click the Save Changes button.
This address now appears in the From menu on the Yahoo! Mail Plus Compose page. You can choose it instead of your regular Yahoo! address whenever you compose a new message.

If you need a new disposable address while you're visiting a Web site, you can create one using the Yahoo! Toolbar.
