Using Other Email Accounts With Yahoo! Mail

Overview Adding Another Account Editing an Account Sending Mail Using Another Email Address Retrieving Email From Another Account Deleting an Account

Editing a Mail Account

When you added your new account, you provided the basic information that allows Yahoo! Mail to send email using the external account’s email address. You may have also provided the information needed to retrieve email from the account. With the exception of the account’s email address, you can update this information and indicate a few other options by editing the account.

Here’s How

  1. Open the Mail Accounts page in Yahoo! Mail. (Remind me how.)

  2. Select the mail account that you want to edit, then click the Edit button.

Select the mail account to edit, then click the Edit button.

  3. On the Edit Account page, make changes to the current settings, then click the Save Changes button.

The account can include the following optional information:

    • Reply To—You can provide a different email address that Yahoo! Mail should use as the reply to address when sending messages using this account’s email address. Replies to messages from this account will be sent to the Reply To address.

    • Deliver To—When Yahoo! Mail retrieves email from this account, it delivers the messages to your Inbox unless you choose a different mail folder from the Deliver To menu. Learn more

    • Options—Use these options if Yahoo! Mail is retrieving messages from the account:

      • Override default POP port—type a port number for the account’s mail server if it is something other than 110.
      • Leave mail on POP server—retain messages on the account’s mail server (the default), or uncheck the option to delete the messages from the mail server once they’ve been received into your Yahoo! Mail account.
      • Retrieve new messages only—receive new messages only from the external account (the default), or uncheck the option to receive all of the messages (old and new) currently in the other account.
      • Use filters—let Yahoo! Mail use the filters you’ve created to determine the folder in which to deliver messages from the account. This option overrides the Deliver To folder choice. Learn more
