Working With the Bulk Mail Folder

The Bulk folder is a special, permanent folder for storing messages that SpamGuard identifies as spam. The Bulk folder doesn’t generate spam, nor should you receive any additional mail because of this folder.

You can control the deletion of messages in the Bulk folder. In addition to specifying the amount of time messages should remain in the folder before Yahoo! Mail automatically deletes them, you can also delete messages manually.

Here’s How

  1. Go to the Spam Protection page. (Remind me how.)

  2. Under the Spam Filter section, select one of the following options for messages in the Bulk folder:

Select either the Immediately delete messages upon receipt option or the Save messages in the Bulk Folder option.Enlarge

    • Immediately delete these messages upon receipt

Tip: Sometimes SpamGuard may treat a valid email message as spam and deliver it to the Bulk folder. If you select the "delete immediately" option, you won’t have a chance to review the messages in your Bulk folder before Yahoo! Mail deletes them.

    • Save these messages in the Bulk Folder for

Choose one of the following periods from the pull-down list:

      • 1 week
      • 2 weeks
      • 1 month (This is the default.)

  3. Click the Save Changes button to save your SpamGuard settings.

  4. To delete some or all of the messages in the Bulk folder, open the folder.

  5. Click the check box in front of the message or messages to be deleted.

Select the messages to delete, then click the Delete button.

Tip: If you select the topmost check box, next to the word Sender, you select all the messages in the folder.

  6. Click the Delete button to move the selected messages to the Trash folder, where Yahoo! Mail can remove them with other deleted email.
