Changing the Contact Sort Order

Initially, your contacts display by last name. When you create or edit a category, you can set the default sort order to last name, first name, or email address. You can also temporarily sort your contacts while viewing a category.

Here’s How

To set the default sort order:

  1. On the Contacts tab, click the Edit link next to Categories.

    Click the Edit link.

    The Edit Categories page appears.

  2. Click the Edit link next to the category in which you want to reorder contacts.

Click the Edit link next to a category.

The Edit Category page displays the information for the selected category.

  3. Under the Contact Ordering label, choose how you want this category to display its contacts by selecting an option from the pull-down list, then clicking the Save button.

Select a sort order for contacts in the selected category.

You’re returned to the Edit Categories page.

  4. Return to your Address Book by clicking the Contacts tab, then click the selected category to confirm how your contacts are sorted.

To temporarily change the sort order:

  1. While viewing a category of contacts (click a category name on the left side of the page), scroll to the bottom of the page, then select an option next to the Sort by label: First Name, Last Name, or Email.

    Select an option for sorting.

The contacts in the category display in the new sort order.
