Keeping Anti-Spy Up To Date

CA Yahoo! Anti-Spy uses spyware definitions to detect and protect against spyware, adware, trojans, and worms. Spyware definitions are files that contain specific information about security risks.

New spyware definitions are released when new spyware is discovered. This can happen once a day or every few days. You can have Anti-Spy automatically check for updates each time you open the application, and you can manually check for updates whenever you like (we recommend you do this on a regular basis).

Here’s How

  1. Open the Anti-Spy window. (Remind me how.)

  2. To have Anti-Spy automatically check for updates each time you open the application, ensure that the Check for Updates on startup box is checked in the Advanced Options section.

Ensure that Check for Updates on startup is checked.

  3. To manually check for updates, click the Check For Updates button in the Program Information section.

Click the Check For Updates button.

A progress window lets you know if there are updates to download.

  4. Click the OK button to download the updates.

What’s Next

Don’t forget to run Anti-Spy after you download new software or programs, as soon as you experience any problems, and for weekly general maintenance.
