Searching for Products

You can search the Web for products that relate to a particular word or phrase by using Shopping search.

Yahoo! Shopping Search helps you find the right product at the right price by giving you the most relevant product listings for the words you type. Shopping search finds millions of items from thousands of merchants, so you can find, compare, and buy almost anything.

 

Here’s How

  1. In My Yahoo!, select the Shopping search option.

    Select the Shopping search option.

  2. Type one or more words in the first box, then click the Shopping Search button.

    Yahoo! Search looks through merchant web sites for products that relate to the text you typed and then displays the Yahoo! Shopping search results in your browser.

    The search results page provides links to merchant web sites where you can view the product of interest. A shopping results page includes the following:

    • Additional product searching options—shown as departments in the pull-down list at the top of the page. Select a department, then click the Search button.

    • Narrow Results options—shown on the left side of the page. You can narrow your product search by price range, store, and group.

    • Sponsor results—shown as web sites with a colored background. The owners of these web sites have paid to have their sites appear at the top or bottom of a results page.

    • Product search results—shown in the main body of the results. These product results include a product image, a description, and a link to the merchant web site and product details.

    • Comparison options—shown with the product search results. Click the comparison box next to each product that you want to compare, then click the Compare Side by Side button.

  3. To view a product, click the product image or link.

    Your browser displays the merchant's web site and the related product.

  4. In addition to viewing product results, you can also do the following from the shopping results:

    • View the results as a list (the default view) or as a grid. To change to a grid view, click the Show Grid View link above the ratings section.

      Click the Show Grid View link.

    • Sort the results by top results (the default) or by price. To sort by price, select Sort by Price Ascending or Sort by Price Descending from the pull-down menu to the right of the compare button.

      Select Price Ascending or Price Descending from the pull-down menu.

    • Read reviews and ratings for a merchant by clicking the stars under a merchant's name.

      Click the stars under a merchant’s name to read reviews.

      Merchant reviews and ratings are added by users and provide more details about a user's experience with a particular merchant.
