What Are Yahoo! Applications?
A Yahoo! Application (sometimes called an "app") is fun or useful software that can enhance your experience on Yahoo!. In many ways, you can think of an app as a website within Yahoo!'s website. What makes apps different from other sites, though, is that they can (only with your express permission) show you personalized information using your Yahoo! profile information (such as your name, display image, list of connections, and more).
Applications are free, require no downloads, and go with you wherever you're signed into Yahoo!. Some apps were built by Yahoo!, but independent developers created most of them. 
This accounts for the wide variety of apps that are available, and for the differences in how you use each application. All the Yahoo! Applications that you add are available on your personal My Apps page (apps.yahoo.com/myapps).
It’s easy to include small versions or views of many Yahoo! Applications directly on your My Yahoo! tabs. From there, you can view application information, access the full application, and more.
You can add apps to My Yahoo! in a couple of ways:
- From the content gallery
- From your My Apps page (for apps you’re already using)
Here’s How

View the tab to which you want to add an app by clicking its name in the tab bar.

Click Add Content.
The content gallery opens below the tab bar and displays a variety of content and ways to find additional content.

To view Yahoo! Applications that you can load from the My Yahoo! content gallery, click the Open Apps category name under Browse Content on the right.

Scroll through the content by clicking the next and previous buttons at the bottom of the gallery if they exist.
You can preview a Yahoo! Application before you add it, just like any other content, by moving the cursor over the item and then clicking the Show Preview link.
The next steps for adding a Yahoo! Application to your My Yahoo! tab vary somewhat depending on whether you’re adding a new app or adding an app that you’ve already installed in My Apps.
