Adding Content

The Basics

We give you many ways to find and add content to My Yahoo!, and they all start with the same basic steps. If you like, add a new tab before adding content. Tabs offer a way to organize your content into meaningful groups. You can have up to 9 tabs each with their own content.

Note: Though you’re unable to write your own content, you’ll find that we cover many areas of interests. For example, if you’d like to include content with links to your favorite Web pages, add the Yahoo! Bookmarks content item. You’ll find it by searching (it’s labeled Bookmarks without Yahoo!).

Here’s How

  1. View the tab to which you want to add content by clicking its name in the tab bar.

    Click the tab.

  2. Click Content.

    Click Content.

The content gallery opens below the tab bar and displays a variety of content and ways to find additional content.

  3. From here, you can:

    • add content that’s already displayed by clicking the Add button next to the content you want. Click the next and previous buttons to scroll through your choices.

    • preview content by clicking Show Preview, which you see when the cursor is over content.

    • browse for content by clicking categories and then clicking the next and previous buttons to scroll through your choices.

    • add RSS content by typing the URL for the feed. What’s RSS?

    • add preloaded tabs by selecting a tab filled with related content. What’s a preloaded tab?

    • search for content by typing keywords in the search box.

  4. When you’ve added the content you want, click the I’m Done button (not necessary when adding a preloaded tab).

    Click the I’m Done button.

All new content appears in the left column (or right depending on the tab’s layout) with the last one added appearing at the top of the column. You can move content within a tab by dragging the content’s title and dropping it into a new location.

Each tab has its own content. If you want the same content on multiple tabs, you need to add it to each tab.

You can also add content when a friend shares content with you. You’ll receive an email with a link to the content and can add it if you like. Learn more in Sharing Content With Friends.
