Accepting Contacts From a Shared Messenger List

When a person shares his or her Messenger List with you, a conversation window displays a notification on your screen telling you that this person wants to send you contacts. You can accept or decline the offer. If you accept, you can choose which contacts you want to add to your List (Messenger will let you know if your List already has a contact).

Here’s How

  1. When you see a notification in a conversation window that someone wants to send you contact information, click the View Contacts link.

    Click View Contacts.

Tip: To decline the offer, simply click Decline.

    Click Decline.

The Add to Messenger List window opens with all of the contacts selected (except those that already exist on your Messenger List).

  2. In the Add to Messenger List window, deselect any contacts that you don’t want to add to your list, then click the Next button.

Deselect the contacts you don't want to add.

  3. Complete the remaining displays of the Add to Messenger List window as described in the Adding Contacts to Your Messenger List tutorial.

Messenger adds the selected contacts to your Messenger List in a pending state. When a contact accepts your request, that contact’s name becomes a permanent name on your list until you remove it. If the contact declines, Yahoo! Messenger sends you a notice and removes the name from your Messenger List.
