| What Is... | Installing Messenger and Signing In | Your Yahoo! Address Book | Connecting With Your Friends | Getting Started |
With Yahoo! Messenger, you can quickly connect with your friends in a variety of ways. The Contact Action Bar is one way. Just begin typing and Messenger displays names from your Yahoo! Address Book so you can pick the lucky person who gets to talk to you.

In the Contact Action Bar, begin typing a name, nickname, phone number, email address... just about any information you have in your Yahoo! Address Book.
Messenger immediately displays a list of names from your address book that have matching information.

Continue typing to narrow the list until you see the name you want, then select a communication option for that name (double-click the name to begin an instant message).

Messenger opens the window appropriate for the type of communication you’ve chosen (for example, a conversation window for sending an instant message).
Tip: If you don’t see the communication option that you want,
click the display image to
the left of the name to open the contact card, then select an option
from the card.
You can use the Contact Action Bar to communicate with anyone, even if the person isn’t in your Yahoo! Address Book. Type all of the information and then choose your preferred communication mode (in this case a pc-to-pc call).
