Adding Photos to Share

Once you have a photo-sharing session in progress, you and your contact can both add photos to the photos panel from your computer or your Flickr account if you have one.

Note: You can’t share files with contacts outside the Yahoo! network, such as your Windows Live™ Messenger contacts and Pingbox™ visitors.

 

Here’s How

  1. Near the bottom of the photos panel, click the Add Photos button.

    Click the Add Photos button.

    The Photo Sharing window opens.

  2. Locate the photo or photos you want to share in the Photo Sharing window.

  3. Select one or more photos, then click the Open button.

    Thumbnails of the photos display at the bottom of the photo panel in both you and your contact’s conversation windows and a large version of one of the photos appears in the main area.

    You and your contact see the photos in the photo panel.

 

What’s Next

You can also add photos to the panel in the following ways:

  • Click the arrow to the right of the Add Photos button, then select one of the following options:

    Click the arrow to the right of the Add Photos button, then select an option from the menu.

    • Add from My Computer—select this option to open the Photo Sharing window described above.
    • Add from Flickr—select this option to share photos from your Flickr account.
    • Add from Clipboard—select this option to share an image from the clipboard.
  • Open Windows Explorer or any other folder window, locate and select the photos, then drag and drop them onto the panel.
 
 
 

Words to Know

  • Clipboard: a temporary storage area in Windows that is used for storing various types of data (such as text, graphics, sound, and video). The clipboard can hold one piece of information at a time for use in a program or to cut/copy and paste information between programs.
  • Contact: a person with whom you interact; someone to whom you might want to send an email, instant message, or text message.
  • Drag and drop: the ability to move an object from one place to another by placing the cursor over an object, pressing the left mouse button, dragging the selected object to another location, and releasing the mouse button.
  • Flickr: a service that allows you to share your digital photos over the Internet.
  • Pingbox: an embedded box on a Web page where visitors to the page can send you instant messages and which lists visitors on your Messenger List.
  • Thumbnail: a small version of an image, often linked to a larger version.
  • Windows Live™ Messenger: Microsoft® Windows’ free instant messaging application.
