|Sending a File||Receiving a File|
Of course, not only can you send files, you can receive them from Messenger users as well. Be sure to accept files only from people you trust. Files from unknown or untrustworthy sources could contain viruses.
If your computer has a firewall, you may need to disable it before you can receive a file through Messenger.
You can’t share files with contacts outside the Yahoo! network, such as your Windows Live™ Messenger contacts and Pingbox™ visitors.
When a contact sends you a file, a message displays in your conversation window. If you want to accept, click the Save As link.
The Save File As window opens.
Locate the folder on your computer where you want to save the file, then click the Save button.
The conversation window informs you that you saved the file.
Tip: If you receive multiple files, Messenger saves them all in the same location.
To view the file after you’ve saved it, click the Open link.
Tip: If you saved multiple files, click the Open link, and select the file you want to open.
Yahoo! Messenger launches the appropriate application (if you have it installed) and displays the file.
Tip: To avoid viruses on your computer, be sure that any files you open came from someone you trust.
You can also share photos with Yahoo! Messenger. For more information, refer to the Learn More.
