Dragging and Dropping

In addition to being able to drag and drop photos from your computer onto the IM conversation window (described in the Sharing Photos With Yahoo! Messenger tutorial), you can share photos with Yahoo! Messenger by:

Tip: You can’t share photos while conversing with Windows Live™ Messenger contacts; the feature isn’t supported.

Here’s How

  1. If you have two (or more) IM conversation windows open and are sharing photos in one window, you can drag and drop a photo from the Share Photos side panel in one IM conversation window to the other one to share with your other contact.

Drag and drop a photo from one IM conversation window to another.

A message informs you that Messenger is waiting for your contact to respond.

  2. Click the Start Photo Sharing link.

Click the Start Photo Sharing link.

Tip: If you don’t click the Start Photo Sharing link and your contact accepts the file, Yahoo! Messenger performs a simple file transfer instead of sharing the photo in the Share Photos side panel. See the Sharing Files tutorial for more information about file transfers.

Your contact has the option to accept or decline your invitation. When your contact clicks Accept, your IM window expands and the Share Photos side panel appears. The same thing happens to your contact’s IM window.
