| Turning On Open Talk | Connecting to an Open Talk User | Receiving a Call Via Open Talk |
The Open Talk feature opens your PC to other PC calls from your friends without you needing to accept the call. When you have Open Talk turned on, any of your Yahoo! Messenger contacts using the latest version of Messenger can make a PC call to your PC and be connected instantly. Once connected, your friend can hear all conversations and sounds near your PC. All you have to do is enable the Open Talk feature.
Note: The Open Talk feature isn’t available when conversing with Windows Live™ Messenger contacts.
Select Open Talk! from the Status menu in one of the following ways:
Click your name in the status area.

Right-click the icon to the left of the status bar.

Select My Status from the Messenger menu.
In the Open Talk window that appears, type the message you want your contacts to see next to your name in their Messenger Lists, then click the OK button.

Your Open Talk status displays next to your name in the status area of your Messenger List.

When Open Talk is turned on, contacts on your Messenger List see a phone icon and an Open Talk link to the right of your name on the Messenger Lists. They click this link to connect to your PC for a PC-to-PC call.

Only one person at a time can connect to your PC through Open Talk. If you’re already connected when another friend calls, you can accept the new call. If you accept the call, Messenger automatically places the first caller on hold and the new caller gets your attention.
Of course, if you see the Open Talk phone icon and link next to someone’s name on your Messenger List, you can give the person a call and listen to their end of the connection.
To turn Open Talk off, follow the steps above and select a different (non-Open Talk) status.
