Using LiveWords

LiveWords help you quickly search the Web for more information about any topic, word, or phrase that you share in an IM conversation. You choose the categories you’re interested in, rank their importance, and LiveWords does the rest!

LiveWords is turned on by default. You can customize LiveWords by choosing categories that you’re interested in.

 

Here’s How

To customize LiveWords:

  1. From the Messenger menu, select Preferences.

  2. Select the LiveWords category. Choose an interest level for each category you’re interested in.

    Choose interest levels for LiveWords categories.

  3. When you have chosen all of your categories, click the Apply button and then click the OK button.

 

To use LiveWords:

  1. Send (or receive) an instant message.

    Send an IM to a friend.

    LiveWords underlines the word(s) that are associated with the categories you have selected. The LiveWords icon (The LiveWords icon) displays next to the text.

  2. Click the LiveWords icon to search for more information.

    Click the LiveWords symbol.

    Yahoo! Search displays information based on your search words.

    Click a link to review search results.

    Tip: You can also highlight any word in an instant message and search on it.

  3. If you want to turn off a specific LiveWord, highlight the word and then click it.

    The Yahoo! Search window opens.

  4. Click the down arrow (Click the down arrow.) button, then choose the Turn Off This LiveWord option.
