Renaming a Group

You can rename a group without affecting the contact names in the group.

Here’s How

  1. In your Messenger List, select the group name, then right-click and select Rename Group from the displayed menu or select Organize Messenger List > Rename Group from the Contacts menu.

    The Rename Group window opens.

  2. In the Rename Group window, enter a New Group Name, then click the OK button.

Enter a new group name, then click the OK button.

Yahoo! Messenger displays the renamed group in your Messenger List.

What’s Next

The Messenger List orders groups alphabetically. You can control the order by including a number in front of the name. For example, "Family", "Friends", and "Work" appear in this order in the Messenger List. You could rename them as "1. Work", "2. Friends", and "3. Family" to order them differently.

If a group is no longer relevant, you can delete it.
