Sending: Drag and Drop Onto a Contact Name

You can send one or more files to a contact by dragging and dropping them onto the contact’s name on your Messenger List.

Tip: You can’t share files while conversing with Windows Live™ Messenger contacts; the feature isn’t supported.

Here’s How

  1. Locate the file you want to send on your computer, and then drag and drop it onto the name of the contact to whom you want to send it in your Messenger List.

Drag and drop the file onto the contact's name.

Yahoo! Messenger opens an IM window for a conversation (if one isn’t already open) with the selected contact, and a message informs you that you’re waiting for your contact to accept the file.

Tip: If you use profiles, Messenger uses whichever profile you last used with that contact on the current computer. If you haven’t had an IM conversation with that contact before, Messenger uses your primary profile.

When your contact accepts the file, you see a progress bar as the file uploads to your contact’s computer. Then you see a confirmation that the file has been sent.

Confirmation that the file has been sent.

If your contact doesn’t accept the file, you receive a declined message.

Notification that the file has been declined.
