If you’re already having an IM conversation, you can send one or more files to your contact by copying and pasting them from your computer into the IM window.
Tip: You can’t share files while conversing with Windows Live™ Messenger contacts; the feature isn’t supported.
Locate and select the file you want to send.
In the window displaying the file, select Copy from the Edit menu (or press Ctrl+C).
In the Messenger IM window, select Paste from the Edit menu (or press Ctrl+V).
A message in the IM window informs you that you’re waiting for your contact to accept the file.

After your contact accepts the file, you see a progress bar as the file uploads to your contact’s computer. Then you see a confirmation that the file has been sent.

If your contact doesn’t accept the file, you receive a declined message.

There are other ways you can send a file to a contact, such as copying and pasting files onto the IM window.
