Viewing a Contact’s Profile

Each of your Yahoo! Messenger contacts has a corresponding profile, available as a public web page, that you can view to learn more about the contact. You might find out about a friend’s favorite hobbies or music. Yahoo! Messenger provides access to all contact profiles.

Tip: You can’t review profiles for your Windows Live™ Messenger contacts; this feature isn’t available.

Here’s How

  1. Access a contact’s profile in one of the following ways:

    • In your Messenger window, select a contact name, then select View Profile from the Contacts menu or right-click the name and select View Profile from the displayed menu.

    • In the IM window, select Contact Options > View Profile from the Actions menu.

    • In the IM window, select View Profile from the pull-down menu accessed below the contact’s display image.

Select View Profile from the pull-down menu accessed below the contact's display image.

The contact’s profile opens in a web browser.

What’s Next

As a Yahoo! user, you also have a profile. If you haven’t already done so, you might want to visit your profile web page and personalize it so others can learn more about you. You can do this through Messenger by selecting My Profiles from the Messenger menu. This opens the My Profiles window. Initially the window displays your primary profile only. Click the profile name to edit your primary profile.

Select your primary profile to edit the profile.

Your profile page opens in a web browser. Follow the online instructions to complete your profile.

If you no longer want a contact in your Yahoo! Contacts, delete the contact from your Messenger List or address book.
