| What Is Archiving? | Setting Your Archiving Preferences | Viewing Your Archives | Managing Your Archives |
The Message Archive window includes features that allow you to manage your archives. This task shows you how to:
To save an archived IM conversation to a text file:
Open the Message Archive window, and select an IM conversation. (Remind me how.)
Click the save icon on the toolbar.

The Save Conversation History window opens.
Locate the folder on your computer where you want to save the selected conversation, type the name you want to give the file, and then click the Save button.
Yahoo! Messenger saves your conversation as a text file that you can double-click to open with any text editor.
To copy text from an archived conversation:
In the Message Archive window, select the text you want to copy in the lower right pane.

Enter Ctrl-C on the keyboard or select Copy from the Edit menu.
Now you can paste the copied text into another file, email message, address book, or other location on your computer.
In the Message Archive window, select the item you want to delete.
To delete your entire archive of IM conversations, select the Messages folder. (Yahoo! Messenger does not delete the Messages folder itself. It deletes all folders within the Messages folder and their contents.)

To delete the folder for one contact and all of its contents, select that folder.

To delete a specific conversation with a contact, select that contact’s folder, and then select the conversation you want to delete.

Select Delete from the Edit menu.
Archiving provides a way to maintain a history of your communications conducted through Yahoo! Messenger. You can turn it on or off, as needed. When you disable this feature, previously created archives remain available through the Message Archive window.
