Viewing Your Archives

You can view your most recent conversations with a contact right in the IM window. When you begin an IM conversation with a contact with whom you have archived conversations, a Show Recent Messages link appears at the top of the IM window. You can click that link or press the F3 key to view your recent conversations with that contact in the IM window.

Click Show Recent Messages.

You can also view your archived conversations using the Message Archive window.

 

Here’s How

  1. Open the Message Archive window by selecting Message Archive from the Contacts menu in your Messenger window.

  2. View a list of your IM conversations in one of the following ways:

    • To see a list of all your conversations, click the Messages folder.

    • To see a list of conversations with a specific contact, expand the Messages folder, then select the contact’s folder.

    Tip: If you have been instant messaging while the Message Archive window is open, select Refresh from the View menu to see the latest archive.

  3. If desired, sort the list in either of the following ways:

    • Click Date to sort by Date.

      Click Date to sort by date.

    • Click Contact to sort by contact name.

      Click Contact to sort by the contact name.

  4. Select a conversation in the list to view its text in the pane below.

  5. To see the time each message in the conversation was sent, select Show Timestamps from the View menu.

While viewing an archived conversation, you can save, copy, print, or delete it.
