Setting Your Archiving Preferences

By default, Yahoo! Messenger automatically archives all of your IM conversations for the current session. You can set your archiving preferences.

Here’s How

  1. Open the Messenger Preferences window by selecting Preferences from the Messenger menu in your Messenger window or from the Conversation menu in your IM window.

  2. In the Preferences window, select the Archive category.

  3. On the right side of the window, select the option you prefer with regard to messages you send and receive.

Select one of the archiving options.

    • Yes, save all of my message: Archives all conversations until you clear them manually.

    • Yes, save all of my messages, but clear them each time I sign out: Allows you to recover a conversation, even if you close the IM window. Yahoo! Messenger deletes all of the archived conversations when you sign out, however.

    • No, do not save any of my messages: Never archives conversations. There’s no way to recover the conversations after you close the IM window.

  4. You can click the View Archive button to view your archived conversations, or click the Clear Archive Now button to delete all archived conversations.

Tip: Use the Clear Archive Now button with caution. Once you delete your archived conversations, there’s no way to retrieve them.

  5. Click the OK button.

What’s Next
