Getting Started With Yahoo! Messenger

Here's How

1. Connect to the Internet.

2. Launch Yahoo! Messenger. (Remind me how.)

3. In the Sign In window, click the Get a Yahoo! ID button.

   

   A Yahoo! window opens and the registration process begins by first checking to see if you already have a Yahoo! ID. If one can't be detected, the Personal Account Information window opens where you can begin the process of getting a Yahoo! ID.

4. In the Personal Account Information window, do the following:

• Enter your personal information. Your First Name, Last Name, Gender, Zip/Postal Code, and Occupation are required.

• Click the check boxes if you want your name added to the Yahoo! Member Directory and if you want to receive special offers through Yahoo! Delivers.

• View the Yahoo! Privacy Policy, then click the Next button.

  

  The registration process continues by checking for availableYahoo! IDs. After a few seconds, the window displays a list of suggested IDs.

5. In the Create Your Yahoo! ID window, do the following:

• Select one of the suggested IDs or create your own by entering a value in the Create My Own field.

• Enter your password, then click the Next button.



6. In the Password Protection window, complete all of the fields, then click the Next button.

   

   If you forget your password, you will be asked to provide these values when you request password help. Your password will then be sent to the email address you provide in this window.

7. In the Word Verification window, enter the symbols you see in the black box, then click the Next button.

   

   The Yahoo! Registration Complete window displays.

8. In the Registration Complete window, click the Finish button.

   The Sign In window displays your Yahoo! ID and password.

What's Next

If this is the first time you've signed into Yahoo! Messenger, the Welcome window displays. This window allows you to quickly add contacts to your Messenger List and to invite people to join you in using Yahoo! Messenger.
