Yahoo! Phone Out is a service that lets you make calls from your PC to traditional phones and mobile phones in over 30 countries (and at a very low price). This premium service requires a pre-paid Yahoo! Voice account of $10 or $25.
WARNING: You can’t dial 911 and other emergency service numbers using Yahoo! Phone Out and Yahoo! Messenger. Use traditional phones or mobile phones to dial 911 and other emergency service numbers. Inform others who are using your Yahoo! Voice services and Messenger that they must dial 911 and other emergency service numbers using traditional phones or mobile phones.
In the Messenger window, click the Yahoo! Voice button below your name, then select My Yahoo! Voice Account.

The Yahoo! Voice Web page opens.
In the Web page, click the Buy Phone Out Credit button.
The Yahoo! Voice Phone Out Web page opens.
Select a prepaid amount, then click the Sign up now button.

If necessary, sign in to your Yahoo! account.
Follow the online instructions to sign up and buy credit towards your Phone Out service.
Once you’ve completed the steps to sign up, return to the main Messenger window and select your home country:
By selecting your home country, you eliminate the need to type a country code when placing calls to numbers within your home country.
Select Preferences from the Messenger menu, then select the Connection category.
Select a country from the pull-down list beneath the Home country label.

Click the OK button to close the Preferences window.
You can change the country as many times as you like. So, if you’re temporarily residing in Brazil, change your country to Brazil.
Within minutes of signing up for your Phone Out service, you can begin making calls from your PC using Messenger. Call all your buddies. They won’t even know that you’re calling from your computer.
If you have several Phone In numbers (see the next task), you can choose the called ID number your friends see when you call them through Messenger. Select Preferences from the Messenger menu. In the Preferences window, open the Video & Voice Devices category, then select a caller ID number.
