| What Is... | Viewing Your Friends’ Updates | Controlling the Updates You See | Viewing Your Own Updates | Controlling the Updates You Share |
Yahoo! Updates is all about viewing what your friends are up to online. You can view Updates through Profiles, Mail, Messenger, and other places. This task shows you how to view Updates in Messenger.
Note: You won’t see Updates shared with connections only nor will you see Updates from a contact who used an alias when being added to your Messenger List. To see Updates from your connections, visit your profile on Yahoo! or Yahoo! Mail.
To view all Updates:
Click the Y! Updates tab.

All of your friend’s Updates appear, including your own (those about you seen by your friends). Your Updates have a blue background.

If you like, you can start an instant message conversation with someone from the Y! Updates tab by clicking the name or display image.

The conversation window opens and you can start instant messaging.
To view an individual’s Updates:
Click the Contacts tab to display your Contacts List.

Click the contact’s display image to open the contact card.

The person’s Updates display at the bottom of the card.
To see more Updates, click the bar at the bottom of the Updates area.

The area expands to show more Updates, and you can scroll to see all of the contact’s Updates.

You can control what Updates you receive and from whom.
