Using a Conversation Plug-In

Using conversation plug-ins, you and a friend can share content or an activity in real time while you instant message each other. You can browse maps and events together to make plans, express your artistic talents, translate messages into different languages, and so on. There are many plug-ins available in Yahoo! Messenger’s Plug-in Manager, and a lot more available in the Plug-in Gallery.

Note: Conversation plug-ins aren’t available while instant messaging contacts outside the Yahoo! network, such as your Windows Live™ Messenger contacts or Pingbox™ visitors.

Here’s How

  1. In the conversation window, while instant messaging a contact, click the Activities button, then click the View All Activities in the Featured window.

    The Activities Manager opens.

  2. Click the Start button to the right of the plug-in you’d like to use.

Messenger sends your contact an invitation to participate in the activity. If your contact accepts, Messenger expands the conversation window and starts the plug-in.

What’s Next

When you start a conversation plug-in, you’re creating a session between yourself and your contact. Each time you launch a new plug-in, you close your current session and open a new session, which your contact must accept before you can start sharing information.
