What Are Plug-ins?

Plug-ins are mini programs that add specific features or services to another program. In Yahoo! Messenger, plug-ins provide a fun and exciting way for you to explore new features while using Messenger. You can listen to music, share photos, play games, and more.

Messenger offers two types of plug-ins:

  • Conversation plug-ins—These plug-ins, available in the conversation window, allow you and your friends to share content or an activity in real time while you instant message. You can play games, scribble together, share photos, and more. For more information, see Using a Conversation Plug-in..

Scribble with your friends in the Yahoo! Scribbler conversation plug-in.

Note: Conversation plug-ins aren’t available while instant messaging contacts outside the Yahoo! network, such as your Windows Live™ Messenger contacts and Pingbox™ visitors.

  • Tab plug-ins—These plug-ins, available in the Messenger window, expand the content and services that you can enjoy while using Yahoo! Messenger. Get your favorite news feeds, check your calendar, view the news, and more. For more information, see Using a Tab Plug-in.

Expand your services with Messenger’s tabbed plug-ins.
