Working With the Contact List

What Is...Controlling What the List DisplaysWhat Do Those Symbols Mean?Changing the List’s Font and Text ColorUsing Contact Cards

Using Contact Cards, Buttons, and Menus

Sending an instant message to a contact is easy. All you have to do is double-click the name in your list to open a conversation window and start chatting. To help you make calls, send text (SMS) messages, and send emails, each contact name in your list includes a contact card and a menu. Through the contact card, you can also check out what your friend’s been up to by reviewing his or her Yahoo! Updates.

Note: Pingbox™ visitors don’t have contact cards.

Here’s How

  1. To access additional communication options, click the display image to the left of the name, then select an option from the contact card.

Click the display image, then select an option from the contact card.

If you friend is sharing Updates, you’ll see them at the bottom of the contact card.

  2. In the Contact List, right-click a contact’s name to see a menu of options.

Right-click the name to see a menu.

Tip: If your list is set to detailed view, a button appears to the right of the contact name that provides the same menu options that you see when you right-click over a contact name.

In detailed view, you can click the arrow button to see the same menu.
