With Yahoo! Phone Out, you can call your friends’ traditional phones or mobile phones just about anywhere in the world. You need to connect to the Internet and sign in to Yahoo! Messenger, but your friends can be computer free... they just need to be near the phone.
When making Phone Out calls from your computer, keep these basic requirements in mind:
When making domestic calls:
A domestic call is a call made within the country selected as Home Country in the Connection category of the Preferences window (select Messenger > Preferences).
Include the area code when dialing a number in countries that use area codes, even when dialing locally. For example, if you live in New York City, and want to place a call to a friend who is also in New York City, you must include New York City’s area code.
When making international calls:
Use the standard international dialing format.
For example, let’s say your friend lives in the UK and her number is (020) 7356 5000. You would type +442073565000 in the Messenger input box.
WARNING: You can’t dial 911 and other emergency service numbers using Yahoo! Phone Out and Yahoo! Messenger. Use traditional phones or mobile phones to dial 911 and other emergency service numbers. Inform others who are using your Yahoo! Voice services and Messenger that they must dial 911 and other emergency service numbers using traditional phones or mobile phones.
You can always change your home country by returning to the Connection category in the Preferences window and selecting a country from the Home country list.
