Using the Photo View

If you want to view messages with photo and image attachments only from the basic search, use the Photo View feature. From these search results, you can view the full-size image, view the message associated with the image, and save one or more images.

Photo View displays the following file types (if they exist in your mailbox):

  • JPEG
  • GIF
  • PNG
 

Here’s How

  1. Perform a basic search. (Remind me how.)

  2. Click the Photo View link.

    Click the Photo View link.

    The Photo View page narrows the search results and displays thumbnails of attached photos and images.

  3. Click a thumbnail to view the full-size image.

    Click a thumbnail to view the full-size image.

  4. Place the cursor over the text link below the thumbnail to learn more about the associated message.

    Place the mouse pointer over the text link to learn more about the message.

  5. Click the text link to view the message associated with the image.

    View the associated message by clicking the text line below the thumbnail.

  6. To save one or more images to your computer, do the following:

    • Click the check box next to one or more thumbnails, then click the Save to Computer button.

      Select the thumbnails to save, then click the Save to Computer button.

      Tip: You can check the box next to Check All above or below the thumbnails to check all of the displayed thumbnails at once. You can click the Clear All link below the thumbnails to remove all check marks.

      Yahoo! Mail scans the attachments for viruses, then opens the Download page showing the files ready to be downloaded.

    • Click the Zip & Download Files button (or the Download button, if you selected only one file).

      In the virus scan results, click the Zip & Download Files button.

      The File Download window appears.

    • Click the Save button.

      The Save As window appears.

    • Locate the folder where you want to save the file, then click the Save button.

      A message informs you that the file or files were saved in the selected location.

You can search for all of the attached images in your Yahoo! Mail account by clicking the My Photos link below the Trash folder in the list on the left side of a folder view page.

Click the My Photos link below the Trash folder to view all of the attached images in your Yahoo! Mail account.

 
 
 

Words to Know

  • Attachment: a separate file included as part of an email message; for example, a multimedia or document file.
  • Thumbnail: a small version of an image, often linked to a larger version.
