Deleting a Message

The most efficient way to delete messages is in the mail folder, where you can delete one or more messages at a time. You can also delete an individual message while reading it.

Here’s How

To delete multiple messages:

  1. Open a mail folder by clicking the folder name on the left side of the Mail page.

  2. Check the box next to each message that you want to delete.

  3. Click the Delete button.

Check the boxes, then click the Delete button.

Yahoo! Mail moves the messages into your Trash folder.

To delete a message while reading it:

  1. Open an email message. (Remind me how.)

Tip: Take care when opening unsolicited email messages. You could be inviting a spammer to send you more junk mail. If you want to delete a suspicious email, delete it at the mail folder level as described above.

  2. Click the Delete button.

    Click the Delete button.

Yahoo! Mail moves the message into your Trash folder and displays the next message from your mail folder.

Retrieving Deleted Messages

Didn’t mean to delete some of those messages? You can retrieve deleted messages from your Trash folder. To do so, open the Trash folder, select one or more messages, then click the Move button and select a folder.

Move a message from the Trash folder to another folder.

Yahoo! Mail moves the messages into the folder of your choice.

Permanently Deleting Messages

Messages remain in your Trash folder until you empty the trash or Yahoo! Mail removes them. To permanently delete the messages from your Yahoo! Mail account, you can empty the folder. Do this by clicking the Empty link next to the Trash folder on the left side of the screen.

Click the Empty link next to the Trash folder.

Note: Once you empty your Trash folder, you cannot retrieve the deleted messages.
