Renaming and Deleting Folders

You can change the name of a personal folder anytime or delete it completely when you no longer need it.

 

Here’s How

To rename a folder:

  1. Open the folder to rename by clicking its name in the folder list.

  2. Click the Rename link next to the folder name.

    Click the Rename link next to the folder name.

    A window opens with the folder name highlighted for you to edit.

  3. Type the new name, then click the OK button.

    Type the new name for the folder, then click the OK button.

    Tip: Folder names can include letters, numbers, and the hyphen (-), space ( ), and underline (_) characters only.

    The renamed folder appears in alphabetical order in the folder list.

To delete a folder:

  1. Open the folder to rename by clicking its name in the folder list.

  2. Click the Delete link next to the folder you want to delete.

    Click the Delete link next to the folder name.

    Note: When you delete a folder, all of its messages are deleted as well. If you want to keep any of the messages, move them before deleting the folder.

  3. Click OK to confirm that you want to delete the folder.

    Click OK to confirm folder deletion.

    The Folders page appears, displaying a list of all your folders, minus the folder you just deleted.

  4. Click the name of any folder or the Check Mail button to return to the regular Mail display.
