| Sending Email to Category Members | Renaming a Category | Deleting a Category |
In addition to providing a way to organize your contacts, categories are similar to distribution lists. You can send an email to everyone in the category by entering just the category name.
You can also send email to a subset of the people in a category if you want.
To send email to everyone in a category:
Open Yahoo! Mail Classic.
Click the New button in Yahoo! Mail Classic.

A page appears where you can start writing a new email message.
In the To box, type the category name.

Tip: The email addresses for the people in the category don’t display in the To box page but do display in the email messages that your recipients get.
Compose and send your email message.
To send email to some (not all) members of a category:
Let’s say you’re planning a surprise party for Dan and you want to invite all your friends (that is, everyone in your Friends category) except Dan. Here’s how!
In Yahoo! Contacts, click the View button above the contact list, then select a category.

The category’s contacts are listed on the left, and the category information displays on the right.
Select the category members that you want to send the message to.
Click the Send email link on the right side of the display.

Yahoo! Mail Classic opens, displaying the beginning of a new message with the email addresses of the selected contacts already in to To box.

If you want to keep your recipients from seeing all the email addresses for the category members, type the category name in the message’s Bcc box instead of the To or Cc box. This is the blind copy box, which means that no recipient can see the addresses typed here after you send the message.
To use the Bcc box, click the Show BCC link, then type a category name in the displayed Bcc box.
Some points to keep in mind when using the Bcc box:
The To box requires an email address before Yahoo! Mail can send the message. You can use your own or one that you don’t mind showing to all the recipients.
Replies to emails are sent to addresses in the To and Cc (carbon copy) boxes only, and not to the addresses listed in the Bcc box.
Be sure to remove any addresses you want to hide from the To box if you first typed them there.
